I’m heading for Kaohsiung in Taiwan next week. Anybody recommend a good mid-range hotel with a decent lounge and restaurant? I don’t want a five star hotel (too expensive), but I don’t want to be afraid to use the toilets either. Some idea of expenses would also be appreciated.

You can also try Toong Mao Hotel Kaohsiung, which is a 3 star spa hotel that i always go to stay when I go to Kaohsiung, the rates are more expensive than the above but the facilities better. Rates from NT$1,399 onwards (US$43.70) for a double bed (1 bed for 2 person) and includes free continental breakfast, private spa bath in room and free 2 bottle of mineral water during check in. This located @ 394 CHiShian 2nd Road, KaoHsiung, which is accessible by taking bus no. 53 or 68 from train stn. and cost NT$15 (US$0.48) per person per ride. This hotel just located beside the Love River and easy access to the Kaohsiung Municipal Historical Museum, which is just 5 minutes away.
