I mean a majority of these people (Chinese) never even been to china,they don’t practice or do what China people does.

Their culture is similar but different – it’s complicated

Heck even Taiwanese don’t call themselves Chinese even though they are next to China – they hate China

Taiwan is a homogenous country. It makes no sense to call themselves Chinese when nearly everyone else is a Chinese. For Malaysia and Singapore, one call himself a Chinese to distinguish himself from Indians, Malays who form a significant part of the ethnic community. They would call themselves Singaporeans or Malaysians if you ask what nationality they are from. The West describe themselves from the color of their skin which is divisive and even demeaning.

Do you recognize TAIWAN as an independent state, or do you believe there is only ONE CHINA?

Anyway, how do you think this issue should be resolved?

Taiwan’s been and always will be part of China no question about it.

It’s not the business of the US to go and deal with this issue, China should go deal with this issue themselves.

What if sometime in the future, Alaska or Hawaii decide they want o be independant, how would the US feel if China supported their independence?

I have looked around and found that the Earthquakes that have struck Chile, Haiti, Taiwan, The Phillipines and Japan are all on the ring of fire (Haiti is near) and have come with a conclusion the the Ring of Fire tectonic plate is extremely active. And Im thinking the the west coast of the United States might be struck, does anyone know anything about this? Or can prove me wrong, please, I dont want this to happen.

My guess is that it will happen in Japan. Seem much more active there than it has in the past 30 years.

The ROC is mostly made up of Taiwan, but there’s also a couple of tiny islands included in the ROC, too, therefore making it different. So why is the ROC flag the same as the Taiwanese flag?

In the Old day when the last chinese emperor were brought down, The Republic of China was created and their flag was the the one that Taiwan use today. After Japan’s surrender of WW II, the communist, who fought most of the rebel against the Japanese, waged a civil war aginst the Nationalist, who are the de jure government of Republic of China. Because the Communist and the Nationalist strive on different belief, they are not compatible with each other. In the end of a 4-year war, the communist won; and the Nationalist flee to Taiwan, hoping to someday take back all of the mainland China they lost! Therefore, there are two government, both claim all of china: One,the Republic of China, which control the territory of Taiwan and some outlying island which in a big group is referred to simply as "Taiwan." Two, the PRC which control all of other territory in the chinese mainland.

Why, the western culture always led people to fight? and fight for something doesn’t matter, like relious and political. But the eastern culture always protect their home, especially Chinese. But Japan is the 天殺的例外. Fuck. But, japan is really do something great in Taiwan, like finance and people’s level in culture. 沒有人跟事是絕對的.

Chinese culture is different, it is not appropriate to tag it "good" or "bad". In China you would never make a person loose face by yelling at them in public for being wrong. In China you don’t wait in line you just squeeze your way through (and it is not considered rude, just a way to move large crowds). Chinese eat things other cultures may not find appetizing (but then if you were one of a billion people you eat what you can find to stay alive). Chinese parents value their daughters now days as they do their sons because they see she can support them in their old age. They are not allowed to abort their babies on account of sex and ultrasounds can not be used for this purpose. Chinese people are good works (not lazy) but do have trouble being managers as such traits are not encouraged unless groomed to be in the government (and if you go into the government, you would not be in manufacturing) thereby there are many unqualified people managing the labor force and that is why quality is "not so good".

We all need to get along. Learn to live together on this earth, it has become too small not to do so. Differences are fine, as long as they are not evil and harm others. We should be human first, animals second, that is why we were given brains… to use. Peace to all.

with china getting more powerful and more technologically adavanced, will say 50 years, do yu reckon it will fancy its chances at Taiwan? And if so what would happen? Would we stand in their way? Or would we surrender it therefore avoiding WW3 but becoming weaker and making China stronger as a result?

All the articles I’m seeing seem to only talk about how many people they’ve taken out by helicopter and the number of people they can see that are still stranded in the hit areas. Why isn’t there any coverage of trapped people that they’ve saved? When the earthquake hit Sichuan last year, there was lots of that kind of coverage. Is it just because they can’t get troops physically there to conduct search and rescue? A first hand report from Taiwan with local news sources would be appreciated.

Yes, they are indeed, ever since the mudslides were reported to the 119 (119 is the 911 in Taiwan). It has been a week since the terrible event occured, and they haven’t given up hope yet. Although the weather condition has been bad since the typhoon, and some of the major rivers have their branches blocked, making numerous landslide dams that are possible to break down any time, many of them still volunteer to stay and search for survivors even though they have chances to stop and leave. However there are way too many devastated areas — almost all the counties in southern Taiwan have numerous areas flooded or filled with earth from the landslide, not many people could be saved (if somebody didn’t reject international supports, maybe more people could survive!). Our news here reports almost as soon as a survivor is saved or a dead confirmed, but they are now focusing on what the victims need as daily supplies and raising donations for them.

I want to live in Taiwan and also be a computer tech.
What are some good colleges that i should consider and is Taiwan in demand for English speaking computer technicians.
Also how much Taiwan Dollars do they make a month? any info appreciated.

If you wish to pursue this career in Taiwan, you would also need Mandarin Chinese skills. Even with that, it’s very hard to find such work here, as most jobs would go to Taiwanese who are native-born Chinese speakers and have had 6+ years of daily education classes in English. I won’t say it’s impossible to secure work, but the odds are far against you doing so.
